I posted this up over on Facebook last night as a little snapshot of what I'd been working on, but figured I'd best post it up here as well. After my last OA Live session and critique, I'm trying to focus my attentions and studies (at least in the short term) on edge control. The Mikey painting I worked on really did have super crisp edges all throughout, which worked to create confusion throughout the flow of the painting by drawing too much attention to themselves. By doing some studies from life, hopefully I'll start to understand more about how light affects surface edges!
I'll probably finish this painting over the weekend and post up a final version, before cracking on with another round of studies. I've finally caught up on my OA assignments (which were TONNES of fun over last weekend!) so I'll be moving into week 8 of the course as of this week... can't wait!
